Residents of River Aria street housing estate (close to sunday sunday field) abakpa, in Enugu state are yet to come to terms of what happened in their street on the 3rd of April. Its just the kind of story you hear in Nollywood. This time around the whole event is as real as life.
An elderly woman of about 80 years that lives at 48 River Aria, popularly known as Aunty Vicky was murdered in cold blood at her residence.
According to one of the neighbours who pleaded anonymity, prior to her death she never complained of having any problem with any body. He said, the deceased was in her neighbours compound as at around 2pm of that same day, before she decided to leave for her own house in order to urinate, but her neighbour Mama Ezichi as she is popularly called, objected and told her that she can use her own rest room.
Aunty Vicky insisted that she will go, so that she can use the opportunity to also take her bath that she will be back in a jiffy, unfortunately for her she never knew that death was lurking around and waiting for her at home, that she is on her last journey on earth.
It was moments later that neighbours started hearing knock at her gate, the knock became so loud that it prompted Mama Ezichi to verify who has been knocking. She met with the visitor who asked her whether she has seen Aunty Vicky, Mama Ezichi affirmed that she should be inside, that she just left her place some minutes. Least did they know that woman is inside her house with her assailant.
Nobody suspected anything until about 30 minutes later, when the neighbours discovered that her gate was locked from the inside and the woman is yet to come out, which prompted them to jump in and break the key. When they went inside they saw the old woman in a pool of her blood.
From their observation the woman was severely tortured before she was killed, because her fingers were separated with what seems like a knife cuts, the whole room in her house were scattered indicating that her killer actually came for something very important to him. Her chest was totally severed and ripped apart.
Certain items where recovered from her house when the neighbours broke in, a face mask, carpentry pinches, chain saw, dagger, 10 litres of fuel, which also gave rise to the suspicion that he actually wanted to burn the woman and the house in order to cover his tracks.
In the evening of that same day, the officers of the police force came and moved her body to the mortuary.
Aunty Vicky before her death, is a very quiet old woman that is loved by all and she is also retired member of NANS.
