U.S. AIRSTRIKE IN SYRIA, RAISES MIXED REACTIONS AMONGST WORLD LEADERS.

The U.S decision to initiate airstrikes on Thursday against the Syrian air base in retaliation to the Chemical attacks that has killed many, which was reportedly launched from their air base, has got mixed reactions amongst world leaders.

This is the first time U.S. has directly targeted the Syrian President Bashaar Asad's forces, while Russia and her allies condemned the attack as 'aggression', but the action was welcomed by Syrian opposition and its supporters, who expressed hope it signalled a turning point in the devastating six-year-old civil war.

The Pentagon said that the airstrike, which targeted Shayrat Air Base in Homs Province -- where the chemical attack was initiated earlier in the week -- struck multiple targets with tomahawk missiles launched between 8:40 and 8:50 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, from destroyers USS Porter and USS Ross in the Mediterranean Sea

The U.S. missiles hit at 3:45 a.m. (0045 GMT) Friday morning and targeted the base's airstrips, hangars, control tower and ammunition areas, U.S. officials said.

The Syrian military has said that at least 7 people were killed and 9 wounded in the missile attack, and this includes a General and 3 Soldiers.

Addressing  reporters on Air Force One Thursday on his way to Florida, Trump addressed the situation in response to questions of whether Assad should remain in power.

"I think what happened in Syria is a disgrace to humanity, He's there and I guess he’s running things, so something should happen."

According to Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, has said that President Vladmir Putin believes the U.S. airstrikes as an, "aggression against a sovereign state in violation of international law."

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, which support the Syrian opposition, are in support of the missile strike, with Riyadh calling it a "courageous decision" by Trump.

Iran that is in support of President Bashaar Asads Government, called it a "dangerous" unilateral action that would "strengthen terrorists" and further complicate the conflict.

British Prime minister, Theresa May, said, they were duly informed about the strike and in support of the America's action," an appropriate response to the barbaric chemical weapons attack launched by the Syrian regime, and is intended to deter further attacks." France, Italy and Israel also welcomed the strikes.
The Secretary of State of U.S., Rex Tillerson while speaking with reporters in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday night had harsh words for Russia, which he blamed for failing to rein in its Syrian ally Bashar al-Assad.

"Either Russia has been complicit or Russia has been simply incompetent,"

Tillerson  referred to Moscow's apparent inability to prevent the Syrian government from using chemical weapons earlier this week despite a 2013 agreement to remove them from the country.

Tillerson pointedly said the United States did not discuss the military strike with Russian President Vladmir Putin or the Russian political leadership in Moscow either before or after it occurred.

But the U.S. military said it communicated with the Russian military to minimize any chance of Russian casualties -- in particular Russians operating out of the targeted airfield.
